PINK INTERIOR TREND | LA VIE EN ROSE *Maison&Objet 2017 edition

If asked for the main colour for this Maison et Objet 2017, no doubt I’d say pink.

Second choice would be green, already a huge trend for some time, both as natural green (yes the Pantone 2017 greenery) and as dark green, so not as a new as pink is in my opinion (already talked about green in Maison&Objet 2016 report, remember here?)

Pink is the interior trend for this 2017, then.

Pink in Paris was the main colour of several of the most popular brands, in their stands fit out, in new products launches or new releases of existing products.

I’m quite sure that this massive pink trend has something to do with the weird couple of Pantone 2016: yes actually those two colours, Serenity and Rose Quartz, that looked almost impossible to be used in interiors when Pantone 2016 was announced last year…but then, here they are. On closer view, in Paris we saw also the Serenity effect with lots of shades of blues and light blues.

Pink is the perfect colour to sweeten all those dark and muted colours which are a trend at present, like blues, greens, greys.

Pink looks also perfect together with earthy colours, with terracotta, burgundy red, tans. This kind of colour match has a long history in the past: remember the accent wall in Le Corbusier’s Ville Savoye? Yes, it was a pink one.

Also, pink is beautiful in its most neutral and nude hues, like a second skin colour.

If you think that all this pink might look a little bit too feminine and romantic, you’re wrong: pink matched with the black lines, another must for this season, gives a masculine touch even to the most feminine colour hue

Se mi chiedessero il colore di Maison & Objet 2017, vi direi senza dubbio il rosa.

La mia seconda scelta sarebbe il verde, già da un po’ protagonista delle proposte di interni, sia come verde naturale – Pantone 2017 Greenery – che come tonalità di verde scuro. Quindi a mio avviso meno una novità rispetto al rosa ( di verde ve ne parlavo già nel report di Maison&Objet 2016, ricordate qui?)

Trend rosa per il 2017, quindi.

Il cagnetto rosa pare felice di questo trend, io lo sto ancora metabolizzando devo dire. Ma più riguardo le immagini dalla fiera più mi rendo conto che il rosa a Parigi era davvero il motivo dominante di molti tra gli stand più noti, è stato il colore scelto per il lancio di nuove collezioni, oppure alternativa per rilanciarne di vecchie.

Perché é un colore estremamente versatile, che può funzionare sia come colore neutro, sia come accento, che in match con molte altre tonalità.

La presenza massiccia (e insolita, direi) del rosa tra i colori più attuali del momento senza dubbio è una conseguenza del trend lanciato con la strana coppia Pantone 2016: si proprio quella coppia di colori che, quando uscita, un po’ tutti davano per spacciata, quasi impossibile da utilizzare negli interni…e invece, eccoci qua. E infatti a ben guardare a Parigi anche il Serenity ha lasciato la sua influenza, con tantissimi toni del blu e dell’azzurro.

Il rosa è anche il perfetto alleato per schiarire ed addolcire di tutte quelle tonalità scure, dei grigi, del blu, del verde, che al momento sono attualissime.

Il rosa è perfetto in match con i colori terrosi che spaziano dall’ocra, al terracotta, ai marroni. Un abbinamento di questo tipo ci rimanda perfino a Le Corbusier con la sua Ville Savoye. Ricordate l’accent wall rosa?

Infine, rosa inteso come colore neutro per un perfetto nude look, un rimando al colore naturale della pelle.

Se tutto questo rosa vi sembra un po’ troppo femminile e romantico, niente di più sbagliato: ci pensa il nero con le sue linee decise, un altro must di questa stagione, a ricalibrare il mood e a renderlo quasi maschile.

Pink interior trend : the hues

Sweet pastel hues, such as cotton candy pink, as a direct heritage of Pantone 2016 then. Nude pink, a lot. Blush pink, so-called the millennial pink: in its dusty variety, matched with velvet and metals, for a retro and sophisticated mood.

The pink that is a trend this year is a muted one, even if I also noticed in several brands the use of a very bright pink, a Baker-Miller pink shade, which you just cannot notice. Let’s see!

Something curious about pink: today pink is associated with the female gender, but in the 18th century it was perfectly masculine for a man to wear a pink suit. Pink was just a diminutive of red. Then times have changed, as well as fashion and colours. Know more here

le tonalità individuate a Maison&Objet 2017

Rosa chiaro e pastello, chiara conseguenza del Pantone 2016 rosa quarzo. Rosa nude. Tutte le tonalità del cipria: il rosa del 2017 è una tonalità desaturata, così come lo sono un po’ tutti i colori di quest’anno.

Anche se io ho notato in diversi stand l’utilizzo di un rosa decisamente acceso e secondo me molto nuovo, un rosa Baker Miller: solo per veri coraggiosi, staremo a vedere che ne sarà!

Una curiosità sul rosa: oggi il rosa si associa al genere femminile, ma non è sempre stato così. Fino agli anni Venti, era perfettamente normale anche per gli uomini vestirsi in rosa, in quanto considerato semplicemente una gradazione più chiara del rosso.
