While neutral palettes have dominated interior design in recent years, 2024 is ushering in a resurgence of moody and old-fashioned hues, in contrast with the opposite trend of pastels. Burgundy red, deep teal, chartreuse – old style colors are making a comeback, for a whole style which is elegant, sophisticated but at the same time expresses a sense of melancholy which perfectly fits the current times we are living.

As I was predicting last year, 2023 would have been all about curves and arches – and so, it was. The use of curves brings a sense of playfulness and movement, encouraging a dynamic interaction with the environment and curves are also often good for ergonomics. In some cases curves make sense – in others, definitely not. This 2024 year will be about using curved shapes only where they are needed and if they really fits into the design, matching them together with a return of straight and sharp shapes.

Its corrosion-resistant properties make it ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications, ensuring longevity and minimal maintenance. Furthermore, aluminum is highly malleable, allowing for intricate and versatile designs that cater to a wide range of styles. Its versatility, durability, and eco-friendly profile collectively make aluminum an excellent choice for designers seeking a combination of functionality, aesthetics, and environmental responsibility.

Open space has been a huge trend in home design for many years – often synonymous with modernity and being in step with times. But before it was not like this – for example, Italian houses used to have living and kitchen separated until the 2000s, when big open plans became one of the most desired features of a house design. The adjustment for many to work and oversee children has brought a need for separated spaces, where we can just close the door to switch functions. Other than this – a semi open plan allows to decorate space differently and be more creative with colors, wall decorations, or creative partitions.

Upcycling is the practice of repurposing discarded or unused items to create new and often more valuable products. It’s not just about being trendy; it’s about being smart and doing our something good for the planet at the same time.
