An Interesting News for all Types of Designers

::

Since there are several designers reading this blog I’m happy to partner this year again with A’Design Award, spreading the word here about one of the most important design awards at present.

A’ Design Award & Competition is the world’s largest annual juried design competition, founded in 2009 with the aim to recognise and promote international design projects.

The A’ Design Award has been established to promote and recognise the best design works in all countries and in all creative disciplines. Design categories include every type of design field, including over 110 categories, from branding and graphic design, to furniture, toys, fashion, photography, architecture, and many others. To learn more about the Award, visit

Registrations for the A’Design Award 2018 edition are now open: make sure you have a look to the design categories here and find your own category to apply for.

Here you can also find the Award top categories, these ones are generally more competitive than others as a result of the number of submissions, therefore they are harder to win because of the high level of competition.

Can’t wait to show you more on the blog about the winners of the last A’Design Award competition!

Among the projects, there are also some beautiful designs I had the chance to see by person, as for example the Loyly Public Sauna and Restaurant in Helsinki, Finland:

Designed by Avanto Architects Ltd., the Loyly project started from the city of Helsinki initiative, to update the city seashore with new functions and activities. The site is unique and the building was designed to be slim and elongated, to be fully integrated in the park strip: when the wooden building turns gray, it will become more like a rock on the shoreline. The architectural idea is simple: there is a rectangular black box containing the warm spaces that is covered with a free form wooden “cloak”. Instead of being mere decoration, the sculptural structure made of heat treated pine has several functions.

I visited it twice last year and I must say it’s really beautiful!
