The best Italian interior and product designers according to the World Design Ranking

Last November I attended an event in Germany ( the HUB – find more about it in this post) as a speaker. I was also asked to reply about some questions related to trends and design, and one of them was about Italian design:

Are the Italian designers and Italy still the origin of design or is Italy rather the breeding ground, the playground and the place of inspiration for the designers of the world?

While giving my reply – that was about Italy as more than just a breeding ground, because there is a young generation of very talented Italian designers too – I realized I am not giving here enough space to design from my Country. So let’s start today filling the gap by sharing some names of Italian interior and product designers you maybe did not know.

I made my research thanks to the World Design Rankings list.

What is the World Design Ranking

The World Design Rankings ranks all the Countries based on the number of designers that have been granted with the A’ Design Award, in a a very exhaustive list of projects divided by Countries. Italy ranked 4th on global scale on the World Design Ranking list for 2018 (jump at the end of the post for the full list!) , after United States, China and Japan: that’s not a bad result at all, do you agree?

The World Design Rankings is also a very useful tool for us working in the media to discover new projects and interesting designers. In the World Design Rankings you can browse projects listed by Countries and designers, or also by Countries and design categories, yet discovering a very wide number of designers you probably did not know before.

The designers I am introducing to you today with this post are all Italian winners from the A’Design Award, the world’s largest annual juried design competition.  The award was founded in 2009 with the aim to recognise and promote international design projects from all the Countries, in 110 different design categories.
