CAFE DESIGN | The Budapest Café in China is inspired by Wes Anderson movie

After talking yesterday about pastel greens as a color trend from IMM Cologne 2018, I have to share this superbeautiful new cafe design.

The Budapest Café is located in Chengdu, China and was designed by Studio Biasol from Melbourne. With a clear inspiration to Wes Anderson’s unique visual style.

A cafe design in pastel colors in China

The coffee bar decor is fresh and modern, with a concept based on pastel colors. The cafe interior is designed on clear and easy geometrical shapes, with a reference to Memphis aesthetic but in soft and pastel hues. As I’m always saying, a good retail/hospitality interior has a clear and strong concept behind its design. Indeed, this design cafe in China is for sure a good example.

I love the matching between color and materials.

The soft pastel greens, celadon grees mainly, are matched with some pops of forest green. Celadon is a special hue of light green inspired by Chinese glazed potteries, so there is actually a connection between the design and the location. Greens are then matched with millennial pink and pastel pink: the toilet is in total pink and it’s amazing. Colors are then paired with monochrome light marble and coloured terrazzo.

Nerd chairs by Muuto and an original Eero Aarnio Bubble chair complete the interior furnishing.
