Windows are an important part of the room. They’re useful to let the natural light get inside the house, but they can also change the style of the room. It is easy to match them to the furniture that you’ll choose for your home, but how to make the right curtains choice?
Here are three tips to keep in mind to get the most out of you curtains…however, if you really can’t make uf your mind, you can always opt for no-curtains at all, in a very Scandi style!
Come scegliere le tende giuste per la tua casa
Le finestre e i serramenti sono una parte essenziale della casa. Utili per far entrare la luce naturale in casa, hanno anche la capacità di cambiare lo stile di una stanza. È molto facile adattarle all’arredamento che scegli per la tua casa, ma come fare la scelta giusta?
Iniziate tenendo a mente questi semplici consigli…che poi, se proprio non riuscite a decidervi, potete sempre optare per una casa senza tende, in vero stile Scandinavo!
#1 Choose curtains | The colour
Selecting the curtains color is a key point in the design of your rooms, as they play a big role in the aesthetic of your house.
You can choose between a color that match the furniture or one that demand attention alone. However, remember that light or neutral color will be more practical: not only will illuminate the room with natural light, but they will also not fade when exposed to sun. This is an important fact to keep in mind if you don’t want to change the curtains or blinds that often!

#1 Scegliere le tende | Il colore
Scegliere la colorazione dei tendaggi è molto importante per lo stile della stanza: svolgono, infatti, un ruolo fondamentale nell’estetica della tua casa.
Puoi scegliere tra un colore che si abbini all’arredamento, o uno che da solo colpisca l’occhio. Tuttavia, ricorda che i colori chiari o neutri saranno più pratici: non solo illumineranno la stanza in modo naturale, e non si sbiadiranno se esposti al sole. Questa è una importante considerazione da fare soprattutto se non si intende cambiare le tende di frequente!
#2 Choose curtains | The fabric
Pick the right fabric for your curtains is not easy as you can immagine, and I’m sure you realized this if you’ve already find yourself choosing curtains for your home.
You need to keep in mind the many characteristics that the fabric has. If it is too heavy, it might not fold in a natural and delicate way; if, instead, it is too light, it might not fall in the way you desire. However, if you need a curtain that protect you from light making the room dark, as you might want it in the bedroom, heavier fabric will be the best choice. The lighter ones, as for example linen, will be ideal in the living area such as the living room or the kitchen.

#2 Scegliere le tende | Il tessuto
Scegliere le tende giuste non è facile come sembra, e di sicuro chi di voi si sia già ritrovato a fare questa scelta se ne è già reso conto!
Bisogna infatti tenere in considerazione diverse caratteristiche del tessuto: se è troppo pesante o rigido, non avrà delle pieghe naturali e delicate. Al contrario, se è troppo leggero, invece, non cadrà nel modo in cui desideri. Tuttavia, se vuoi una tenda che protegga dalla luce in modo ottimale, scegliere quelli più pesanti e spessi sarà la soluzione migliore. Quelli leggeri, come ad esempio il lino, saranno più adatti alle zone giorno come i salotti o le cucine.
#3 Choose curtains | The lenght
Raise your hand if you had doubts about your curtains’ right lenght.
At present the trend is to let the curtains softly touch the floor: they give a modern and romantic touch to the room. It’s better to avoid them in area such as the kitchen or the bathroom, where they will be very unpractical. An easy tip to make the room look higher is to to set the curtain start a few centimetres higher that the windows.
Besides the aesthetic, it must be noted that curtains protect from cold, therefore choosing the appropriate length will have many advantages. Choosing the right windows type, however, will be the best way to have a warm home.

#3 Scegliere le tende | La lunghezza
Alzi la mano chi non è mai andato in crisi nel decidere la lunghezze delle tende in casa.
Negli ultimi anni si opta sempre di più per tende lunghe, che appoggiano delicatamente sul pavimento: donano un tocco moderno e romantico alla stanza. Meglio però evitarle in spazi come la cucina o il bagno, dove saranno poco pratiche. Un trucco per dare l’impressione di avere una parete più alta è posizionare l’attaccatura delle tende a partire da qualche centimetro al di sopra della finestra.
Oltre all’estetica, bisogna considerare che le tende hanno anche la proprietà di proteggere la stanza dal freddo: scegliere una lunghezza appropriata, quindi, avrà diversi vantaggi. Utilizzare finestre appropriate, come quelle in pvc, sarà comunque il sistema migliore per avere una casa calda.
