This color match represents a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting.
Ultimate Gray is the color of resilience, of strength, which assures and encourages feelings of composure and steadiness. We also decided to end this 2020 with grey as our color of the month, because of its associations with strength, with history and also with solid natural elements such as rocks.
Illuminating is the color of optimism: bright and sunny, it encapsulates those deep feelings of positivity that we all need in this special moment. We featured this color last year in our Lemon Yellow color of trend.

We are now exploring some new color trends for interiors besides Pantone 2021, by starting from it. The idea is to create some new color matches that, starting from Pantone Ultimate Grey + Illuminating, can inspire you for all the upcoming year.
As we were writing last year at this time, what’s for sure is that we are going towards years of more saturated and bold colors, after many years when pastels and neutral hues were protagonist in the design. Grey is also going to have a comeback, and this is easy to predict if we think about the big popularity of earthy colors in this year – that will definitely leave space to colder hues.
