Today, after travelling far and wide, virtually and for real, with Thursdays Original interiors coloumn, here we are in my Country. Precisely in Milan.
Do you know why? Because Milan is beautiful. Or, better to say: Milan has become beautiful.
Never thought I would have said this, huh.
I realized this during the week I spent there for the Design Week, actually I’ve been in Milan several times before but always for very short stays and running for work. This time, despite the hectic design week days, I had the chance to visit it better and yes, I enjoyed it.
There is the historical area of 5 vie that I’ve never path before and it reminds me of much smaller towns. Then there are the churches cloisters, but also the private and unexpected courtyards. There are those industrial areas like Lambrate, twith a special charm during design week (I talked about it here).
Then, there is Porta Nuova area with its completely new skyline: you already know I love glass and steel architecture (and do not already know where I’m going for summer holidays ;)..|). With the new Piazza Gae Aulenti and the Bosco Verticale, awarded as the most beautiful of the world in 2015. And Corso Como, which connects the old and the new city.
Oggi, dopo aver girato in lungo e in largo sia virtualmente che in viaggi reali con la rubrica del giovedi, ce ne stiamo dalle nostre parti. Precisamente a Milano.
E lo sapete perché? Perché Milano è bella. Oppure, a dirla tutta: Milano è diventata proprio bella.
Non avrei mai pensato di dirlo, eh.
Me ne sono resa conto durante la settimana trascorsa per la Design Week e credo che un po’ dipenda sì dai recenti progetti che l’hanno resa una città molto più “europea”.
Un po’ credo si tratti anche semplicemente del fatto che finora a Milano ci sono stata tante volte ma sempre e solo di corsa, per uno o due giorni, e praticamente sempre per lavoro. Mentre stavolta, nonostante la frenesia della Design Week, me la sono girata un bel po’ e devi dire che è stato un bel girare.
C’è la zona di 5 vie, che non avevo mai percorso prima e che mi ricorda realtà molto più piccole e storiche, come ad esempio la mia Treviso. Ci sono poi i chiostri delle chiese, ma anche i tanti cortili privati che proprio non ti aspetti. Ci sono le zone industriali come Lambrate, che grazie al design assumono un fascino tutto particolare (ve ne parlavo qui).
E c’è tutta la zona di Porta Nuova che ha donato una vera e propria skyline completamente nuova a tutta la città. A me le architetture in vetro e acciaio, che sanno di modernità e di futuro, piacciono assai e già lo sapete (e non sapete dove andrà il cagnetto quest’estate!! eh ancora non ve lo dico ;). E quindi la nuova Piazza Gae Aulenti con i suoi grattacieli e ancor più quel Bosco Verticale di Boeri che tutti ci invidiano (grattacielo più bello del mondo nel 2015, mica roba da niente). Ma forse ancor più Corso Como, che diventa proprio unione tra città vecchia e città nuova.

Hello Milano is a brand new opening and centrally located.
Love the attention to detail, like the genuine and fresh breakfast and the design magazines, but also the juicy colour of the interior design. In fact every bedroom is different and rich in colour, and this is a good thing for a greysh city as Milan sometimes can be! My room instead was dedicated to Magritte, that is also my favourite painter, nice coincidence

Hello Milano è una novità nel settore bed and breakfast milanesi, fresco di apertura.
Con quella cura dei dettagli che piace a me, colazione semplice e fresca, riviste di design, e tanto colore che proprio non guasta, soprattutto a Milano. Che seppur bella sappiamo essere ogni tanto una città un po’ grigia. Infatti le stanze sono una diversa dall’altra, ciascuna con un tema di colore differente, acceso e vitaminico. Eccetto la mia, dedicata invece a Magritte. Che è anche il mio pittore preferito!
