We all know that design is not just about product and interior design. Design is everywhere: in art, in graphics, in fashion, in music, in all creative industries. That’s why I think that sharing this creative trend 2019 report with you may be really interesting. Based on billions of search data across images, videos, and music and combined with expert opinion from designers and visual curators, the report I am sharing today was created by Shutterstock, listing the standout ideas and concepts that we believe will influence the creative direction and design aesthetics in 2019.
Some really interesting points I found are the comeback of 80s opulence (one of the trends also listed in our report of interior trends from immcologne 2019 here), plus the Zine culture leading to the contemporary art collage. New futurism is another key creative trend and it’s all about the looks and sounds that defined futurism at the dawn of the digital age, like purple, blue, and pink duotone gradients, basic vector graphics.
Among the rising creative trends, there are interesting influences from the far East, with the rising of the Japanese Kawaii style – that’s the culture of cuteness, with its joyous, pastel-colored vectors – and the Kalamkari, the Indian art of painting and printing on fabric.
