A design hotel where to stay in Singapore

Last post about our two weeks tour of Singapore and Malaysia, I told you about chasing street art in Malaysia and how street art was a way to qualify the city of Georgetown. Today let’s talk again about wall art, while visiting an original design hotel interiorin Singapore.

Let’s go virtually back in Singapore, in a central area between Chinatown, Boat Quay and Clarke Quay, in Clover The Arts Hotel. Indeed, I was there the last days of my tour in Malaysia and Singapore.

And it was a colouful surprise!

This design hotel in Singapore is entirely decorated with art.

At the Clover The Arts Hotel in Singapore, murals by renowned artists and art students decorate the interior with histories and color.

Indeed, each one of the 44 rooms was painted by art students with a different theme, from traditional landscapes to comics. 19 rooms were assigned to students from different Singaporean schools of art and design. This boutique hotel then became also an incubator showcasing artwork of both professional and new talents.

Among the commissioned artists, you can also find works by Ceno2 and the Life Art Society.

The beautiful huge wall art on the back wall of the hotel is by Ceno2 : a mural of four levels with a typical Singaporean tropical landscape. By the artist, also the big colorful mural in the hotel lobby, representing Singapore skyline in colours.

Un hotel di design a Singapore

Nell’ultimo post qui vi raccontavo che me sono andata a caccia di graffiti in Malesia, e di come la street art sia stata usata per riqualificare una città. Oggi vi parlo invece di arte, sempre di wall art, ma stavolta in un interno. Di un hotel!

Siamo virtualmente in una zona centralissima di Singapore, tra Chinatown, Boat Quay e Clarke Quay, all’ hotel Clover The Arts: ci sono stata gli ultimi giorni del mio tour in Malesia e Singapore.

Ed è stato una piacevole sorpresa!

Questo boutique hotel a Singapore è interamente decorato con graffiti e wall art.

L’hotel è stato interamente decorato con murales di artisti affermati e studenti d’arte, che hanno letteralmente riempito questo hotel di storie e di colore. Impossibile annoiarsi in questo posto, ve lo assicuro.

Infatti ciascuna delle 44 camere è stata dipinta con un tema differente, dai paesaggi tradizionali ai fumetti, tema che poi trovate su una targhetta fuori dalla porta. Di queste, 19 sono state affidate a studenti di differenti scuole di arte e design della città. Tra gli artisti commissionati, Ceno2 e gli artisti di Life Art Society.

E’ di Ceno2 il mega graffito che ricopre la facciata posteriore dell’hotel su quattro piani, una cascata sul verde; è suo anche il mega murales colorato che si trova all’ingresso dell’hotel, con la skyline di Singapore a colori.

The fourth floor is dedicated to the themes of nature and biodiversity with murals by Life Art Society, a non-profit organization which aims to promote local art and new talents in Singapore.

Here there was our beautiful room with pandas, who welcomed us after the long travel across Malaysia ♥

With such a strong visual colourful concept the furniture must be simple and minimal: wall art is enough decorate the space! The rooms layout was designed to make the most of the space, as usual in Singapore rooms are not big but very comfortable: the bathroom is divided into two glazed rooms, one for shower and onefor toilet, while the sink is outside in the room; the bed is raised up on the floor to allow you to stock luggage under it, that’s an easy and brilliant idea to make the most of a room.

Clover The Arts, un coloratissimo hotel di design a Singapore

Il quarto piano invece è dedicato al tema della natura e della biodiversità con murales di Life Art Society, un’associazione no-profit che mira proprio a promuovere l’arte ed i nuovi talenti a Singapore.

Qui si trovava proprio la nostra stanza con i panda, che ci hanno accolto dopo il lungo viaggio attraverso la Malesia ♥

Con un concept così forte, gli arredi non possono che essere semplici e minimali: bastano già i graffiti a decorare lo spazio! Il layout delle stanze è invece pensato per sfruttare al massimo lo spazio, come da tipico hotel di Singapore: il bagno è diviso in due ambienti vetrati, uno per doccia e uno per wc, mentre il lavandino si trova all’esterno; il letto è rialzato per permettere di infilare sotto le valigie, idea semplice ma geniale per sfruttare al massimo una stanza di albergo.
