Let’s talk about shapes.

Everybody reported about curves and indeed curves are really everywhere nowadays in interiors and design. But something very different is also coming. In fact, after years of circles, roundness and soft shapes, sharp and straight lines are also appearing in the latest design news. It’s about experimenting with different angles, geometrical shapes, balances, shapes fighting against gravity.

Creative angles in Campo Base at Milan Design Week 2023. The installation, curated by Federica Sala,  hosted six Italian architecture studios ( Massimo Adario, Giuliano Andrea dell’Uva, Eligostudio, Marcante-Testa, Hannes Peer and Studiopepe ) which six different interiors to explore the concept of domestic intimacy.

 

Designed in 2013, the Hexagon low tables collection by Tokujin Yoshioka x Desalto come back super current today –  in a rich range of heights and sizes for different living uses.

 

The new Yaku collection by Gabriele and Oscar Buratti for Gervasoni is defined by simplicity, essentiality, and linear shapes. The term Yaku is in fact a reference to the Japanese tradition of experimenting with the combination of simple elements and refined compositions.

 

Forme stool by Passoni Design with its triangular shape generates multiple plays of lines, thicknesses and surfaces, allowing equally infinite composition possibilities

 

The Moiré Collection by Objects of Common Interest for CC Tapis is a new series of rugs, inspired by a research of the geometrical patterns which exist in natural materials, in three different designs: Zig-zag, Splash and Quadratic.

 

Peaks Up by Michael Anastassiades is a family of pendant lights, where the basic element is a cone that can be composed in different configurations. It can be displayed as a single, double or triple arrangement, pointing up or down depending on the preferred direction of light.
