Florence facades turned into wooden chairs by Cosimo de Vita

cosimo de vita, italian design, wood chairs design
Last Monday I’ve already told you about Crowdrooster online community of crowdfounding and innovative brands, and today for *Mondays Made in Italy* I want to post about another project I’ve discovered in this platform of an Italian designer I think it’s perfect for this week all about wood and natural elements.

Cosimo de Vita, before than a designer, is an artisan born and living in Florence, and its original collection starts from its love and knowledge of its beautiful city, full of history and great architecture…in fact its collection, named “Sitting in the Square“, starts from the unusual idea of reproducing
Florence churches facades in handmaden wooden chairs.

The soul of Italy is found in its artisans, and De Vita is determined to continue the tradition without a compromise in handcrafted quality, and to celebrate the city of Florence, as “Florence is art. Florence is poetry. There is music in the streets with the shopkeeper’s brooms and the singing of voices. There is art on the walls of the old buildings, and the lines in its cobbled streets are as deep as the laugh lines on the faces of Florentine gentleman. The soul and essence of this place is discovered in the union of its physical location and its residents”.

The concept of le piazze has had a particularly strong effect on this project as it is a place of rest and coming together, which is metaphorical to a chair and table. The table has a really interesting design too: in fact it’s the stylized shape of the Florence map with Arno river in the middle…
