According to this research, Italy is one of the cheapest Countries where to furnish a home.
This means that actually the furniture cost in Italy is actually cheaper than in other Countries.
The result really surprised me, that’s why I’m sharing this today with you. But, on second thought, in Italy there is a very strong competition in terms of home furnishings. This is therefore probably the reason which explains the statistics and which makes the furniture cost in Italy cheaper.
But, still I did not expect to find Italy at the 5th place in this global research, among the Countries where furnishing a home is cheaper. At least, if you buy IKEA.

E’ un risultato che sinceramente mi ha sorpresa e che perciò volevo condividere con voi. In realtà, a ben pensare, in Italia c’è una fortissima concorrenza in termini di arredo per la casa. Questo quindi probabilmente spiega la statistica che oggi condivido con voi.
Certo non mi aspettavo di trovare l’Italia al quinto post mondiale tra i Paesi in cui arredare casa costa meno. Per lo meno, se acquisti IKEA.

*What’s this global research on the furniture cost about ?
Obviously, furnishing your home does not cost only € 1000 (we know this well, sigh). This research indeed selected a set of IKEA furniture in order to directly compare the cost of furnishing an apartment with exactly the same pieces of furniture. The research then compared 100 cities in which the IKEA is sold, to find out what the cost of furnishing an apartment in each city is.
The research examines both single and family apartments, by comparing the prices of these two groups of IKEA furniture:

Ovviamente, arredare casa non costa solo 1000€ (lo sappiamo bene, sigh). Questa ricerca ha scelto infatti determinati mobili IKEA in modo da poter confrontare direttamente il costo di arredare un appartamento con lo stesso identico set di mobili. Lo studio mette poi a confronto 100 città in cui è presente la catena IKEA per scoprire quale sia il costo dell’arredamento di un appartamento in ogni città.
Lo studio infatti esamina sia gli appartamenti per persone singole che quelli per famiglie, e confronta i prezzi di due gruppi di mobili:

Who took this worldwide research on the home furnishing cost?
These results I’m shared are part of a much larger research, the Home Furnishing Price Index, created by Nestpick . The aim is to help expats, consultants and those who are moving to a new country in the short term, to find the most economically convenient apartment to rent.
“Many of our clients are consultants and millennials moving around for fixed periods of time, so this study is a huge help to help them make an informed decision between renting furnished and non-furnished apartments.” Says Ömer Kücükdere, CEO of Nestpick. “What the results show clearly is that the situation is very different, depending on where you are in the world.” While it is perfect to rent an unfurnished apartment in Boston, where it is possible to recover furniture costs in just three months, in London it would take more than a year to recover the same investment, so renting a furnished apartment makes much more sense financial “.

I risultati che vedete fanno infatti parte di uno studio molto più ampio, l’ Home Furnishing Price Index , che Nestpick ha creato per aiutare gli espatriati, i consulenti e coloro che si stanno trasferendo in un nuovo Paese a breve termine, a trovare il tipo di appartamento economicamente più conveniente da affittare.
