“Das Haus” at imm Cologne 2020 puts on stage the Future Outdoor Design Trends
“Das Haus – Interiors on Stage” is an experimental space inside imm cologne fair, each year a different visionary concept for living design. This year it was designed by Spanish studio MUT Design (I met them in September in Valencia, do you remember?) and entitled “A la Fresca!“.
The installation is a clear statement about the direction that interior design is taking towards the outdoor design. At the same time, about how outdoor design is becoming similar to interior design, with a clear blurring between indoor and outdoor.
The house of the future – according to MUT design – will be hybrid, with a living concept that unites architecture and nature, the indoors and outdoors, opportunities for privacy and communal living.

The Future Trends for Indoor and Outdoor Design from “Das Haus”
Unbounded and multifunctional rooms, all furnished with pieces which are suitable for outdoor use, define the home of the future. An outdoor cooking station serves as the barbecue-ready kitchen; there is a hammock instead of a bed in the room designed for relaxation; the dressing and hygiene area is symbolically linked to the surrounding area of water.
Organic shapes, curved volumed, together with lots of pure white and terracotta, define a new minimalist style, inspired both by nature and by Spanish influences.
Natural lighting, finally, also assume a special importance in the living spaces, providing more comfort and a better living.
