Half Finnish Half Japanese

Iittala Issey Myiake, new collection iittala, rose quartz home decor, ceramics news, japanese ceramics, table setting iittala

This new collection Iittala x Issey Miyake is something that makes the Pink Dog bark!

First, because there’s a lot of chatting about Finland in my present days (we are planning our first design tour and we choose Helsinki as our destination, check our facebook page here for more info) and Iittala is one of our favourite Finnish brands.

Second, because I’m a fan of Japanese design and culture: of all that world of origami, of minimal design and harmony.

#pauseforharmony is the hastag that was used to lanch this new home collection that melt two different Countries –  Finland (Iittala) and Japan (Issey Miyake) – in an harmonic result of origami and pentagonal shapes. The collection offers 30 pieces with ceramics, textiles and glass of clean aesthetic inspired by Issey Miyake’s signature folding techniques.

The soft colour palette combines the deep moody green of Finnish forests with the soft pink of Japanese cherry blossoms, in a beautiful mix of rose quartz and greens: I actually prefer this match than the classical Pantone 2016 one, what do you think?

The beautiful styling you see is from talented Lotta Agaton.
