One thing I always say is that, if you want to be an interior designer, you must also be a bit of a psychologist. The way you design people’s home, in fact, depends very much on their tastes and personalities. I strongly believe that the way you furnish and decorate your home should have as its first objective to make you feel good inside it, even before being aesthetically beautiful.
Interior trends are instead some general themes that reflect the changes of times and society, which can be interpreted – or not – based on our own personality. In fact, nothing more wrong than decorating impersonally and relying only on current trends. In all likelihood, however, we are all influenced by trends, even if we try to avoid them.
The “Trend Atmospheres” exhibition at imm cologne 2019 interprets the theme of the relationship between trends and personality. Designed by the Dutch stylist Floor Knaapen and Dick Spierenburg, the show features seven different settings, each inspired by seven types of people and as many trends of the moment. The exhibit also gives a visually beautiful overview of what’s happening in home interiors right now, plus an interesting roundup of products, textiles and colors for interiors.

Una cosa che dico sempre è che se vuoi fare il progettista d’interni devi essere anche un po’ psicologo. Il modo in cui si arreda la propria casa infatti dipende moltissimo da gusti e personalità di ognuno di noi. Il primo obiettivo di chi arreda e decora una casa, infatti, dev’essere quello di far star bene chi ci vive, ancor prima di renderla esteticamente bella.
Le tendenze sono invece dei temi generali che riflettono i mutamenti del tempo e della società, interpretabili – oppure no – in base alla propria personalità. Niente di più sbagliato, infatti, che arredare casa in modo impersonale e basandosi solo sulle tendenze del momento. Con tutta probabilità, però, siamo tutti influenzati dai trend, anche se cerchiamo di evitarli.
L’allestimento “Trend Atmospheres” ad imm cologne 2019 interpreta proprio il tema della relazione tra tendenze e personalità. Progettata dalla stylist olandese Floor Knaapen e Dick Spierenburg, la mostra mette in scena sette di diversi setting, ciascuno ispirato a sette tipologie di persone e altrettanti trend del momento. Offre inoltre una panoramica visivamente piacevole di ciò che sta accadendo nel mondo della decorazione d’interni oggi, oltre ad interessanti proposte di prodotti, tessuti e colori.
