The power of green

Green “the colour of life” is closely associated with the environment and nature.

It is a colour that also brings a sense of hope, health, compassion and harmony.

The colour green is considered to have healing power and is understood to be the most restful and relaxing colour for the human eye.

LIGHT GREEN COLOR TREND

Pistachio and the pale greens in design

Popularity continues to grow around the idea of bringing the outside-inside; this includes the use of colour.

Green can remind us of the natural world and incorporating can make us feel more connected with nature. Now more than ever we seek sanctuary inside, spaces we feel at home and essentially comfortable in our surroundings.

Both soothing and relaxing green is a colour that helps alleviate anxiety, depression and nervousness. Guests waiting to appear on television programs often wait in a “green room” to relax. This is because green is often used in decorating for its calming effect.

Tranquil Dawn Dulux

Dulux colour experts were inspired by the morning sky and chose a serene soft sage green “Tranquil Dawn” as their colour for 2020. A shade that reflects our desire for calm. ‘The hazy pale green tones of Tranquil Dawn are calming and comforting just when we need it most in our lives,’ says Marianne Shillingford, Creative Director, Dulux UK.

This serene soft green is a fresh hue, ideal to awaken interiors. To go with this neutral greyish-green colour of Tranquil Dawn, the team created four different palettes to bring the colour to life. Tranquil Dawn can be zoned into four colour palettes, each one seasonally inspired, to seek Meaning, to Care, to Play, and to encourage Creativity

.

The Meaning Palette is inspired by cold winter’s dawn. Icy green, warm cream and charcoal hues combine to provide a feeling of calm and contemplation

MEANING

.

The Creativity Palette – inspired by a warm autumnal day with sumptuous maroon and tobacco hues paired with pale and moss green, the perfect palette for self-expression and storytelling

CREATIVITY

.

The Spring/Summer palettes include the Care palette which incorporates a blend of earthy neutrals, muted greens, dusty pinks and smattering of pale blue, all of which are inspired by a hazy spring morning and evoke a feeling of deep relaxation and peace. Consider using this palette for bedrooms as a peaceful sanctuary away from the chaos of the day or for a spa-inspired bathroom

CARE

.

The Play palette which is inspired by the horizon of a hot summer morning and features vivid reds contrasted with baby blue, cream and pale green
