Back from Maison et Objet in Paris, here my highlights in pictures, brands and news from the home and decor fair.
I choose three simple words to recap this long image gallery: COLOR, PLAY, ROUND.
Just read through to see why and if you’ve been to Paris fair let me know if you had the same impressions about what’s trendy in the home decor on this 2016!

The colour trends for this 2016 in interiors and home decor?
I must say that in Maison et Objet I didn’t see a lot of Pantone 2016. Almost never in the match of Rose Quartz and Serenity, as Pantone declared. Many brands launched products in pink, but this pastel hue is often matched with bold and dark colour. Indeed, the 2016 colour palettes of many design and decor brands (see for example below Muuto, Normann Copenhagen, Farrow and Ball) include bold colours more than pastel ones.
2016 colours refers to nature and to the earth: shades of blues, dark greens, oranges and reds in their warm hues. What I noticed the more than everything are blues and greens , in particular petrol blue (as the combination of blue, grey and green) was almost everywhere in the Paris fair.

There’s need for fun.
Design plays with shapes, evoking animal ones, in new products that bring us in a fairy dimension. Fun is not just for kids and many brands played with shapes in their stands with interesting displays and funny solutions. Some examples?
.
Alcuni esempi?

SOMETHING MORE…
maison et objet 2016 | about old and new materials
3D : Materials have a new three-dimensional surface. This can be seen both in wall surfaces and in fabrics (see for example in pic: MATERIKA colelction by Marazzi)
.
Marble + Brass + Black Metal: marble is still trendy, but more in dark and green hues than in the traditional carrara one. Matched with metal finishes, more brass then gold (copper has almost disappeared?).
Metallic light frames, especially with a black finish, are also very common
