As for every last post of the month, I put together a round up of images, names and news from the world of design and interiors (take note!). A mix of seen and liked, and not shared yet in the blog.
Today let’s go with some installations and news from design brands, spotted in Milan, I still haven’t told you about. And about some Milan Design week trends I pinpointed, together with them.
April was the month of the Milan Design Week you know and my monthly round up could not skip this, although with this post I would like to close the long series of articles “favourites from Milan Design Week 2016“: there’s a May full of news on the horizon!
Happy reading and enjoy the weekend!

Buona lettura, e buon weekend!
april round up | original interiors & installations
“Herringbones” by Raw Edges: I’ve appreciated so much the simplicity yet the visual strenght of this exhibition.
The Israeli design duo, Yael Mer and Shay Alkalay, displayes in the industrial space of Garage San Remo the process of colouring wooden slats with herringbone textures. Their colourful patterned herringbone floorings are their signature: remember for example the Store Flooring for Stella Mc Cartney shop designs? Amazing.

I’ve already talked about Palazzo Litta “Courtyard Village” installation by Diebedo Francis Kéré in my Milan report on Architizer here.
The palace interior was full of amazing installations in its first floor rooms: what about this room filled with baloons by PLAYplay collection? Designed in Singapore + Italy by Lanzavecchia + Wai design studio and crafted in South East Asia by Journey East, the collection is designed for compact smart living spaces and brings together retro influences with Far East ones. In juicy colours!
april round up | furniture news
Petite Friture presented two design news, the GRID sofa by POOL design and MEDITERRANEA light by Noé Duchaufour-Laurance. In a beautiful stand decorated by ink splashes.
They are always aligned the right trend, do you agree? (Hey, didn’t notice that there were splatter patterns almost everywhere, from ceramics, to wallpapers, to furniture – see for example Max Lamb new stool for Hem here-?)

String embraced the moody trend with a total black stand showcasing its design classic String System (can you believe it’s been created something like 67 years ago and it’s still so actual?), and the String Works range, launched in 2015.
String system is now also available in natural ash and black stained ash. However, the stand fit out and these total black stylings are stunning.

Italian brand Miniforms (it seems a scandi brand but they so local they are just a few kilometers from my place!) surprised with the Unexpected Home 2016, a beautiful stand with two living styles: a sophisticated vintage one and on the opposite side a contemporary one. Blues and greens (what about these colours? remember about green paint trend this year?) with some golden accents.
In the same space, Little Own Design showcased their lovely ceramics (first seen in Fuorisalone 2015) in handmade stoneware and porcelain, that seem to be made of fabric.
So many beautiful ceramic table sets this year in Milan, do you agree?

Muuto presenteted a new collection of mirrors called FRAMED in tinted glass.
This year in Milan it was all about glass and colourful glass, even in very bold and vivid solutions. These ones in bronze, copper and alu are much more neutrals and I’m quite sure they will pass the present trend to become another design icon!

For the bathroom: I’ve already wrote about Salone Internazionale del Bagno finds and news here.
Just a note in this round up for a new line I spotted, Megius and its new Doiserie series: for different finishes for wall and shower that makes the bathroom customizable like a piece of furniture. Smart!

Ending with SwedenPlays, a big showcase of Swedish companies from sofas and chairs to rugs and lighting at Salone del Mobile, playing around the themes of nature.
Green trend is going to last, what do you think of this stand that was more similar to a greenhouse?
Hey, Menu even set up a greenery house corner in their own stand. I cannot stand by photographing it, I’m dreaming of this corner in my home now!
