Inspired by the seashore Seashell graced our palette last month, this time we have a splash around the cool blues with a colour we are calling here at ItalianBark Ocean Blue.

AQUA & TURQUOISE COLOR TREND IN DESIGN

Aqua, water in Latin sits between the green and blue on the colour wheel, although in this instance we lean more towards the blue. The colour aqua evokes feelings of reinvigoration, youth and dreaminess. Refreshing and uplifting ‘Aqua’ is creative and light-hearted, yet strong and individual.

The colour turquoise conveys clarity of thought whilst also helping to open communication between the heart and the spoken word. Said to present as ‘a friendly and happy colour enjoying life.’ Feel like you have been on a bit of an emotional roller coaster recently (up and down) well in colour psychology terms, turquoise can control and heal emotions helping with emotional balance and stability. Encouraging us to get some balance back in our lives.

This is a colour that recharges our spirits during times of tiredness, mental stress and alleviates feelings of loneliness.

Turquoise radiates peace, calm, tranquillity of blue energised by the addition of a small amount of uplifting yellow. See a splash of turquoise and instantly feel a sense of calm and gentle invigoration. Calming the nervous system, this colour helps with clear thinking and decision-making – so we feel ready to face the world again.

Do you know that the name turquoise means “Turkish Stone” as it came to Europe from Turkey. The turquoise gemstone is the symbol of friendship, brings peace to the home and apparently good fortune to the owner.
