DESIGN FINDS | In Ei – Issey Myake by Artemide

Today I would like to share Artemide new lighting collection, result of a collaboration with the Japanese fashion brand Issey Miyake.

In-Ei” in Japanese means “shadow, shadiness, nuance” and it is the result of a project born  at the Miyake Design Studio, founded in 2010 by Issey Miyake together with his research and team, Reality Lab. In Ei is a real origami light: a LED lamp that unfold from flat 2D shapes into 3D shades.
The project comes from the intersection of creativity and mathematics, resulting in clothing that can be folded flat and yet take form in 3D shapes, all starting from a single piece of cloth, and extending it to lighting products. The fabric used is derived entirely from recycled materials that diffuse light in interesting ways, in particular using a retreated fiber made from PET bottles. Artemide animates these sustainable and striking shapes using LED lighting, today’s most relevant sustainable technology.*Love it
