COLOR TRENDS | Pantone Marsala Color palette and inspirations

Be inspired by the Pantone Marsala Color Trend

What I’m talking about? Pantone of the year: Marsala, code 18-4338, just this one  here.

The fact there’s just no trace of “Marsala” in my home, this made me think, maybe I should learn a little bit more about this Pantone Marsala.

Calling it Marsala makes this hue quite cool, but I have to admit that at very first sight it reminds me so much that red burgundy sweaters that grandfather used to wear … (OMG, I have a marsala wooden sweater as well in the deep end of my wardrobe). But I tried to go over to my preconceptions, I did a lot of research, until I was happy with what I found. Really, this Marsala revealed itself as a very versatile color.

It’s a quite dark and dull shade, but it actually fits very well inside many different palette. It can even be used as a neutral shade in a colorful context, like a new kind of black. These are the pantone marsala colour matches for interiors  that I prefer, and someone reveal in advance some interior trend of 2015 we are going to see the next few weeks!

My favourite colour combination, this one between Pantone Marsala and turquoise. In fact this is the one I’ve chosen for the first colour palette of this year here, do you remember?

I love turquoise, it remembers me about ethnic and exotic interior athmospheres. But I think this year will be more about darker blue shades , more about indigo and greyish blues. Do you agree?

Marsala and natural wood is a very warm and rustic colour combination. Just add some white to make it a little bit more contemporary and fresh.

Light wood as been a great trend in 2014.  Oak and cherry are just some samples for a light and fresh honey-toned kind of wood, but rough and natural wood, for example driftwood or unfinished pallet wood is the one I think will last as a trend during this year as well.

(we are going to see more about this on the blog )

Copper interior trend is going to stay with us this year 2015 as well.  We’ve already talked about copper last year, do you remember?

Last year copper used to be matched with whites or with pastels, that’s to say with soft and bright colours. This year is going to be more about moody colours (this is my general feeling), as Marsala is, and this combination between copper and marsala works perfectly.

Marsala can be used as a neutral shade with a palette full of colours, if you like to hazard something different.

I love how here it has been matched with some pastel colous,  I always love these soft hues…however we’ve seen so much about pastel interior trend last years I’m not quite sure it’s going to last as a trend. let’s see!

pantone marsala rug and total white

In a total white and neutral space, a great idea to add Marsala in an elegant way is to add a big Persian rug, like this one you see in the picture.

This will add to the interior an ecletic twist, that will make it more interesting. I believe we’re going to see a lot about this kind of inspiration in this 2015, as well as ethnic prints, for example in cushions and upholstery.
