Pink Furniture and Decor for a feminine bedroom design inspiring calm and mindfulness

Not many symbols speak so eloquently of rebirth and renewal like cherry blossoms. The short days of the blossom season call for mindful introspection and acknowledgement of the fleeting nature of life. Those beautiful, delicate pink flowers make everyone stop and stare, admiring their innocence with eyes of hope for the warm months ahead.

Sakura pink, our colour of the month, stands for the overwhelming beauty of life, reminding us to make the most of the present moment. In japanese the word sakura means bloom, or smile/laugh which makes it a perfect candidate for decorating a bedroom, doesn’t it?

To add a much needed breath of fresh air into your bedroom design and make it softer, more comforting for the soul, opt for the sakura pink. And while the very shade of pink will depend on the mood you are looking to nurture (light and dusty tones for compassion and innocence, and more vibrant hues for passion and rebellious spirit), all of them will certainly infuse the room with hope.

Pink Furniture and Decor for a feminine bedroom design: moodboard

With this mood board I aimed for optimism and playfulness. The classic setting took an eclectic turn with artistic touches and unexpected material selection (beech lacquer side tables and statement fiberglass sling chair).

The style is very feminine and modern, featuring some of the hottest interior trends out there – warm neutrals, handmade tiles, ceramics with a matte finish, paper lanterns, Matisse posters, a retro phone and a textured accent pillow. Symmetry contributes to the overall feeling of calm and stability, warmed up with a playful color scheme.

Passion for colours and shape comes in an invigorating colour combo of dusty sakura pink and mustard yellow. Hints of blue and green are used to add character and strength, preventing the concept from becoming overly sweet.

A feeling of stability, calmness and dignity; however, can also be seen as static, dull and unimaginative: with a bedroom like the one below, springtime can last all year long!

Enjoy the sakura season!
