Boerum Hill : A Timeless Chic home in Brooklyn

What makes a home trendy – but at the same time timeless?

It’s very much about creating a space that feels elegant, comfortable, and effortlessly stylish—without being too trendy or overly decorated. At the same time, by incorporating colors in a way that feels natural and chic – at the same time, without relying just on neutrals. Today, I’m happy to share a project that has recently caught my attention and together with this I would like to explore more about the concept of timeless chic interiors.

Located in the heart of Brooklyn’s Boerum Hill, this townhouse designed by Barker Architecture Office embodies the essence of timeless chic, blending deep, moody tones, sculptural textures, and exquisite materials to create a home that is both inviting and enduring.

A Timeless Chic Home Entrance where classic meets contemporary

Designed for a social family of three, this home seamlessly balances spaces for entertainment, family life, and hosting visitors, with each room a study in understated sophistication and curated luxury.

The home begins with an entryway painted in a lush deep green, setting the tone for the moody elegance throughout. A green-and-pink checkerboard floor adds a modern twist to the classic black-and-white motif, while a custom asymmetrical curved mirror reflects the arch of the door, offering a subtle nod to traditional forms reimagined with a contemporary lens.

Parlor, Kitchen and Dining: timeless yet trendy design choices

The parlor combines style and comfort with a curved sofa and armchair surrounding two nested marble tables on a textured, curvy rug. A custom walnut sideboard grounds the space, while carefully chosen art pieces enhance the decor. The original marble mantel remains a stunning focal point, blending historic charm with modern design.

The dining and kitchen areas are defined by a deep fluted plaster arch, leading to a bar area lit by vintage French smoked glass sconces. The same fluted motif in then repeated on the kitchen hood and complemented by Calacatta marble countertops and custom shaker cabinets in warm neutrals. A curved pantry cabinet and pale oak dining table with upholstered chairs are illuminated by a trio of hand-blown glass pendants, adding a soft touch of color.

Soft and Timeless chic Bedrooms

The rebuilt staircase brings to a light-filled playroom featuring a tambour-lined transition wall. The master bedroom epitomizes timeless chic home decor, with walls plastered in a soft lavender gray complemented by stained oak details. Custom printed lamps add understated elegance, while a curved closet leads to the spa-like primary bath. Here, the luxurious green onyx washbasin create a serene contrast with the neutral palette while adding a touch of luxury in the bathroom. On the top floor, a skylit hall leads to two guest bedrooms, each with its own distinctive charm and defined by different use of colors.
