A’ Design Award | How to apply
A’Design Award is open to all designers of all nationalities. It is not just about product and furniture design, but A ‘Design Award includes more than 100 design categories.
You can easily apply at this link, by choosing your category, sharing your project details and images, together with an application fee. Results will be announced to public on April 15 2020 and shared here on the blog too.
Winners will receiveplenty of benefits. They will receive the A’ Design prize together with the award winners’ kit, including for example the Yearbook Publication, or a Physical Exhibition with winning projects, together with an extensive pr campaign to get people know about your work. Fingers crossed!
2018 – 2019, Platinum A’ Arts, Crafts and Ready-Made Design Award Winner
Elle Decor India approached the designers for this an art installation to celebrate their 18th anniversary in India. The art installation was supposed to be put up at India design week expo to be witnessed by visitors across country. This interactive installation conveys significance of being eighteen years old and relates it to a common man. Three dimensional mirror alphabets in the spelling of eighteen were composed to form a cube that gives multiple dimensions and insights to viewer.

Bandage (Sofa) by Olga Bogdanova
2018 – 2019, Platinum A’ Furniture, Decorative Items and Homeware Design Award Winner
This solution will be convenient for both offices and private apartments. When members of Bogdanova Bureau team started to design this sofa, they first of all thought about comfort. The first thing, which you imagine when you think about the sofa is a dozen uncomfortable pillows, moving from side to side and making your rest miserable. Designers team seen this problem often and decided to fix it with help of a bandage system. They also tried to create a product with timeless design.

Stay Sixty (Refillable Drinks Bottle) by Lucy Snowdowne
2017 – 2018, Platinum A’ Sustainable Products, Projects and Green Design Award Winner
The double-walled design keeps drinks fresh and prevents condensation in your bag, whilst the unique removable base aids cleaning and filling. The bottle can easily be filled from the base with ice cubes, fruit, powder drinks or smoothies. Most importantly the removable base makes cleaning quick and effective, a hugely important factor in extending the lifespan of the product.

PIXIO is a unique construction set in which pixio-blocks are flexibly assembled thanks to a well thought-out system of powerful magnets. It is the easiest construction set to use. Playoho (Art Pavilion) by Ricci Wong
2017 – 2018, Platinum A’ Landscape Planning and Garden Design Award Winner
PLAYOHO Art Pavilion comprises of 28 nos. of circular rings on columns with different materials and characters which moves in wind and cast shadows on ground. It creates a free public space for citizens to stop their hectic pace, stay, and hang around freely. Appreciating the skylight and wind. It encourages the public to slow down and rest on the lawn and have a moment of free play, or doing nothing practically but watching the wind move the rings.

Manshausen Island Resort (Hospitality, Sport, Hotel, Wellness/Spa) by Snorre Stinessen
2016 – 2017, Platinum A’ Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award Winner
The resort was planned and laid out in consideraton of the Island´s topography. The positioning and orientation of all the cabins is based on the consideration of their individual panoramic views and privacy for the guests. The cabins are designed to offer their guests shelter and comfort while at the same time underlining the dramatic experience of the elements outside; the sea, landscape, changing lights, weather and different seasons. Design included masterplan, building design and interiors.

Tre’s design concept is an invitation to imagine, play and create. Ampathy (Vibration Speaker) by Hyungjun Koo
2016 – 2017, Platinum A’ Digital and Electronic Devices Design Award Winner
People who have auditory disorders were isolated from communications with others. They were excluded from social cultural activities such as listening to music or watching a movie. They cannot hear sounds, but they are very sensitive to vibrations. This speaker substitutes sound into solid vibration, and amplifies the listener’s emotions with it. Ampathy can produce sound and vibration together, so deaf people can communicate culturally by enjoying music or movie together with their friends and families.

2015 – 2016, Platinum A’ Graphics and Visual Communication Design Award Winner
The Park papercraft kit is easy to assemble. No glue or scissors needed. Assemble the bicycle, bench and animals by fitting together parts with the same mark. Each piece is a two-month calendar. Quality designs have the power to modify space and transform the minds of its users. They offer comfort of seeing, holding and using. They are imbued with lightness and an element of surprise, enriching space. Our original products are designed using the concept of Life with Design.

Silvia (Bathtub) by Marmite S.A.
2015 – 2016, Platinum A’ Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design Award Winner
Silvia is ergonomically designed, so that it corresponds to human shape and is wider in shoulders and gets narrower towards feet. This shape also brings substantial reduction in water use, from 280 to 130 liters. The overflow integrated in a thin wall is an innovative solution that so far has not been applied in mass production. The bathtub is made of cast marble, with natural dolomite powder as its main ingredient. Thus, it absorbs warmth and ensures comfort of use.

2015 – 2016, Platinum A’ Beauty, Personal Care and Cosmetic Products Design Award Winner
ageLOC Me combines Nu Skin’s most advanced anti-aging skin care formulas with a smart delivery device for a personalized daily skin care regimen. An app-based assessment accounts for skin care needs, environmental factors and personal preferences to determine a specific set of products from almost 2,000 combinations. The smart device weaves multiple serums together in microlayers before application, which has been shown to provide more even distribution and better absorption than mixing by hand.

Grotto Sauna (Freestanding Residential Sauna) by PARTISAN Projects
2014 – 2015, Platinum A’ Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award Winner
The craggy island, which sits in the midst of some of Canada’s most pristine wilderness, posed substantial logistical challenges that required inventive design and sustainability solutions. We enlisted everyone at the studio to pitch design ideas based on digital scans of the site, which allowed optimal orientation of the building with minimal excavation and maximized creative input. Prefabricating the sauna and delivering it to the island significantly reduced the potential time spent on site as well as construction impact on the environment.

180º North East (Novel) by Daniel Kutcher
2013 – 2014, Platinum A’ Writing, Literature and Content Design Award Winner
“180º North East” is a 90,000 word adventure novel. It tells the true story of a journey Daniel Kutcher made through Australia, Asia, Canada and Scandinavia in the fall of 2009 when he was 24. Aside from the main body of the story there are photos, maps, expressive text and video (depending on the version) throughout the book in an attempt to immerse the reader in the adventure. This way the reader can get a better sense of what a journey like this might be like as well as what the author’s own personal experience of it was.

The iconic shape and cutting-edge style are in fusion with Hungarian thinking and international trends: the creators reimagined a bottle shape typical in the local culture, painted it in pastel colors, and made them trendy. Souldrops is produced as a uniquely designed detergent brand for the general market that breaks all existing rules.
