Minimalism and design, Albed new showroom in Milan

Great news for this Monday: Albed opened its new showroom in Milan, via San Damiano 5, next to San Babila stop.

And I’m happy to share this news today with you for many reasons. First, I discovered that the designer – architect Paolo Festa – is almost my age-mate and born near my city, maybe we even met in the corridors of IUAV (University of Architecture of Venice), who knows…and now, he is the art director of Albed, as well as the designer of this beautiful new interior space in Milan.

And then, I’m happy to share these images because Albed new showroom has all the features that I love about our Italian style, and that I like to share in the Mondays Made in Italy coloum: linearity, clean lines, and a wise use of materials.

First, aluminum : indeed, Albed born in 1964 as a, high quality aluminium accessories, evolving then into furniture design. The aluminum, although it may seem a rather cold material, here in the showroom has been skillfully mixed with other materials, primarily with wood, which makes the internal atmosphere warm and welcoming.

E sono felice di parlarvene per numerosi motivi. Intanto, ho scoperto che il progettista – architetto Paolo Festa – è quasi un mio coetaneo e quasi concittadino, E magari ci siamo pure incrociati per i corridoi dello IUAV (Università di Architettura di Venezia), chi lo sa. Ora, Lui è art director di Albed, nonchè progettista di questo bellissimo nuovo spazio milanese.

E poi, perchè questa showroom ha tutte quelle caratteristiche di cui mi piace parlarvi nella nostra rubrica del lunedì, dedicata allo stile italiano: la linearità, la pulizia formale, l’utilizzo sapiente dei materiali.

Innanzitutto l’alluminio: Albed infatti nasce nel lontano 1964 proprio come azienda produttrice di complementi in alluminio di alta qualità, per poi evolversi anche nel settore arredo. L’alluminio, nonostante possa sembrare un materiale piuttosto freddo, è stato invece sapientemente mixato nel flagship store con altri materiali, in primis il legno, che rende invece l’atmosfera interna calda ed accogliente.

The new Albed showroom develops on two different levels, for a 300 square meters total area.

On the ground floor, the furniture is matched with some spectacular lighting installations, creating a striking visual path between Albed products and leading the visitors. Of course, there’s a wide exhibition of swing doors, the first real protagonist of the company, became its trademark mark worldwide.

[symple_highlight color=”yellow”]Not just aluminum …[/symple_highlight] : among the new products, I point the attention to D + door, you will notice for sure its very dark hue, but you should know that this is an unique and natural finish because the door panel is made from a special wood deposited under thick clay for 1600 year, now recovered to create the special StoneOak® panel.

Il nuovo flagship store Albed si sviluppa su due livelli, per un totale di 300 metri quadri.

Al piano terra, gli arredi sono intervallati da installazioni scenografiche di luce e creano un suggestivo percorso visivo tra i prodotti Albed. Ovviamente, un’esposizione di porte battenti, primo vero protagonista della produzione dell’azienda, che l’hanno resa un marchio presente ormai in tutto il mondo.

[symple_highlight color=”yellow”]Non solo alluminio…[/symple_highlight] perchè tra le novità vi segnalo ad esempio la porta D+ , noterete di sicuro la colorazione molto scura, e dovete sapere che è del tutto naturale e deriva dal fatto che il pannello dell’anta è costituito da un legno molto speciale, ricavato da tronchi depositati sotto a strati di argilla 1600 anni fa, e recuperati da Albed a creare un nuovo tipo di pannello: lo StoneOak®.
