Leaving in a few days, and I was about to completely change my destination.
You know where I would have gone? In the Greek islands. I’ve been there a few years ago and it has been one of the trips that I I loved the most. At the time, I had been just to Santorini and Mykonos, this time I would have visited a few different island. Yes, but which one?

Fra qualche giorno si parte, e io stavo quasi per cambiare completamente meta del mio viaggio. Imprevisti.
Sapete dove sarei andata in alternativa? Nelle isole greche. Ci sono stata un po’ di anni anni fa ed è uno di quei viaggi che rifarei volentieri. All’epoca ero stata a Santorini e Mykonos, stavolta magari avrei visitato qualche isola diversa. Sì ma quale?

Mykonos, Santorini, Creta, Naxos, Delos, Rodi, Symi, Kos, Samos …just to name a few, as in total there are almost 220 islands here. You can choose from the most lively ones, with great nightlife such as Mykonos, Kos and Ios, to the most most romantic ones as Santorini.
Every time I see photos of these places, I get lost between the white and blue of the images, thinking it’s not Photoshop, but reality!

Mykonos, Santorini, Creta, Naxos, Delos, Rodi, Symi, Kos, Samos … per citarne alcune, visto che in tutto sono 220. Si va da quelle più movimentate e consigliate per i giovani, come Mykonos, Kos e Ios, a quelle più romantiche e interessanti dal punto di vista paesaggistico come Santorini.
Io ogni volta che vedo qualche foto di questi luoghi mi perdo tra il bianco e il blu delle immagini sapendo che non si tratta di Photoshop, ma di realtà!

visit the cyclades by sea
An interesting way to visit more islands in one single trip, and enjoying an unique view of the islands is for sure by boat, so from the small sailboat to big organized cruises. I’ve never done one, but the benefits must be a lot.
First, you can see everything from a unique point of view. Some Cyclades islands are accessible by sea, but some of them – the most popular such as Mykonos and Santorini– have a small airport: this is certainly the easiest and fastest travel option, but it does not allow you to enjoy the unique view of the islands from the sea.
Second, I love the idea that ideally you can visit one different island every day. I generally prefer moving and visiting as much as I can , I could hardly think about staying for long time in just one island. For example in just one single cruise here you can enjoy both the Aegean and the Cyclades islands, without the stress of thinking about all transports timetables and tickets from one place to the other. And – trust me – these days I’m really stressed in organizing our next travel, it’s far from being easy!

Un modo interessante per visitare più isole e avere una visione d’insieme in un’unica vacanza di sicuro è quello di scegliere la barca, dalla piccola barca a vela alla grande crociera organizzata. Io non l’ho mai fatta, ma a quanto pare i vantaggi sono di sicuro tanti.
Intanto, quello di vedere tutto da un punto di vista unico. Alcune isole certo sono comunque raggiungibili solo via mare, mentre alcune – come Mykonos e Santorini– hanno un piccolo aereoporto: di sicuro è l’opzione di viaggio più semplice e comoda, ma non ti permette di godere della vista unica delle isole dal mare.
Oltre a questo ovviamente resta il fatto di poter idealmente visitare un’isola diversa ogni giorno. Certo qui dipende molto dal tipo di vacanza che avete in mente: io in genere preferisco muovermi e vedere il più possibile dei luoghi in cui mi reco e difficilmente riuscirei a stare a lungo in una sola isola, non sono fatta per il relax totale! E l’idea di muovermi da una parte all’altra senza dover pensare a tutti gli spostamenti, ricordarmi i biglietti e le prenotazioni, inseguire i vari orari, in questo momento non mi dispiace affatto (dico così perchè invece sto organizzando gli spostamenti per il prossimo viaggio…per nulla facile, ve lo dico!)
