It’s still February and here we are already thinking about the Milan Design Week.

Indeed, I started these days work on a project I will disclose soon, but before telling you more on this let’s go virtually today to Milan for some shopping of Italian design and furniture. If you are wondering which are the new trends in Italian design, this is the right article for you.

Is Italy still a reference point in the interior and design industry?

In this blog I love to talk (especially these days, back from Stockholm) about Scandinavian design, but let’s not forget that our Country has an amazing history about design.

Actually the Stockholm Furniture Fair was filled with Italian brands and there is a big affinity between Scandinavian design and Italian one. The honor guest was the Italian architect and designer Paola Navone, while the most important space of the fair – the beautiful Design bar – was designed by Venetian designer Luca Nichetto.

Italy is still a reference point in the design industry, let’s go through some new interior styles from Italy today with 3 moodboards.

Which are the latest Italian design trends at present?

So I’m waiting to visit the Milan Design Week with Salone del Mobile to reply better to this question.

By now, I put together today as a start three moodboards to recap three of the latest trends in the Italian interior and design. They involve the idea of bringing outdoor in, the Seventies comeback and a new word I’m sure we will hear a lot soon. What do you think?

Italian style trends #1 / Boho chic

Boho Chic interior style is all matching different geographical influences and adding a touch of hippie and ethnic mood in the interiors. With some distinctive materials such as rattan and wicker, it is also about bringing the outside inside.

Italian design trends #2 / Seventies

–

Brownies and oranges, terracotta hues, with a retro mood recalling the Seventies. That means, soft and comfortable furniture, with a relaxed design that refers to those years or with items designed in the decade.

Even if they say 70s is “the decade that taste forgot”, I think it’s just about how you play with it

This is actually one of the newest word I heard about here describing an Italian interior mood. “Modernico” interior style plays with different influences over different ages.

It’s the new meeting the old, daring new interpretations of the old. I’m sure we will hear this word again
