Talking about wood and interior design this week, again today with another concept design for Thursdays Original Interiors.

This is the canteen of Peter Eisenman’s Cidade da Cultura de Galicia, designed by spanish design studio Estudio Nomada with a smart idea: recreating inside a closed room the athmospheres of rural summer fairs of Galicia. Indeed, the legs of the four dining tables in the canteen area have been extended upwards to form stylised trees,  almost in real dimensions. The long counter, with its geometric colourful applications, reminds of traditional Galician folk art demonstrations.

I love how this idea has been recreated with wood in this interior…and I’m not the only one to think so, since a couple of years ago this project won the prestigious Restaurant & Bar Design Awards!

Restiamo in tema legno e andiamo virtualmente in Spagna, in un interno molto particolare.

Si tratta del ristorante-caffetteria progettata dagli spagnoli di Estudio Nomada all’interno della  Cidade da Cultura de Galicia, disegnata da Peter Eisemann. L’idea di base è stata quella di ricreare al chiuso uno spazio che rievocasse le tavolate all’aperto delle feste di campagna, e infatti le gambe dei tavoli sono state allungate fino a ricreare degli alberi stilizzati ad altezza praticamente naturale.

La trovo un’idea bellissima, e a quanto pare non sono l’unica a pensarlo, dato che un paio d’anni fa questo progetto ha anche vinto il prestigioso Restaurant & Bar Design Awards!
