What can be done with just paper and scissors?
Rob Ryan ‘s illustrations made me fly out from reality and I just want to share them with you today on Italianbark. Romantic illustrations that tell about love and loneliness, stories carved injust a piece of paper…
In a papercut, all the elements have to be connected, for example human figures have to hold hands, as result of this special technical, and I think that this sense of connection makes Rob Ryan’s work so special. He was born in Cyprus but grew up in London, where he opened its own shop (in that Columbia Road full of flowers during Sundays, do you remember we went there a few time ago?). Among its collaborations, many brands, including Paul Smith and Vogue to name a few, as well as a beautiful online store on its own website.
Recently, the well-known brand PURE has launched a new radio -Evoke- decorated by Rob Ryan himself. I have it, in red (of course!)

Cosa non si può creare con un pò di carta e delle forbici?
Le immagini di Rob Ryan mi hanno fatto volare con la fantasia e volevo condividerle oggi su Italianbark. Sono illustrazioni romantiche, che raccontano di amore e solitudine, storie intagliate in un pezzo di carta.
Nella tecnica del “papercut” tutti i singoli elementi devono essere per forza legati l’uno all’altro ed è proprio questo senso di connessione che rende così speciali le immagini di Rob Ryan: artista nado a Cipro ma londinese di adozione (il suo negozio si trova proprio in quella Columbia Road piena di fiori, di cui vi avevo parlato tempo fa), vanta tra le sue collaborazioni numerosi marchi, tra cui Paul Smith e Vogue per citarne alcuni, oltre che un bellissimo store online nel proprio sito.
Di recente, anche il noto marchio PURE ha proposto una linea di radio, di nome Evoke, decorata proprio da Rob Ryan (ce l’ho! in versione rossa, of course).
A me piace troppo la romantica ironia delle sue immagini, ve le lascio per rallegrare questo mercoledì di pioggia!
