Hello guys, how about this Monday? Are you restarting after a long winter holiday or did you worked in the first days of January as well?
This year I preferred going for a slow restart, instead than the usual traumatic Monday-after-vacations restart. I actually worked in a low-speed last week as well, organizing work and publications for the month, travels for the year (will start from Maison&Objet in Paris in two weeks!), ongoing projects, etc.
I just did a two-days stop to go for a beautiful trip in the Alps by train, you can find some pics on my instagram here and I’m ready to show more about this in few days here on the blog.
However, let’s start the week with something useful and informative ok?

A question for all design bloggers:
where do you usually look for new projects and original infos?
I actually find it harder and harder to find original and unreleased contents. The net is now filled with everything, maybe too much, and the point is to find out authoritative sources to trust when you publish things while looking for something new and not published somewhere else.
I think we the design bloggers, as all people writing on the net, have the call of duty of writing qualitative infos, checking for sources and for contents.

My sources for design blogging?
I have a long list of sources I use as inspiration for this blog.
✓ Web design magazines and paper interior magazines. Some of my favourites: Frame Magazine, Milk Magazine, Elle Decor, Living (Italy), Frankie, Vtwonen, Rum Magazine.
✓ Personal blogs from many different Countries, from Scandinavian ones, to European (see France, Poland, Portugal, Greek just to name a few), US to Eastern ones (Japan+Singapore), lots from Australia, something from Brazil and Africa as well. And of course from Italy: I have a wide list on Bloglovin‘, which is still my favourite feed reader.
✓ Then, all the sources on social networks: Facebook pages (not so much indeed), Instagram for visual contents, Pinterest (still a lot, even if I don’t love that there is not a chronological order on the feed), Tumblr for most original contents.
✓ For new projects scouting I use to jump on crowdfounding websites like Kickstarter or similar, you can find something really interesting and unreleased but need lots of patience to look for
✓ For home tours scouting I use to have a peek into some quality real estate agents’ websites. To name a few, Fantastik Frank, Entrance Makleri, Welcome Beyond, 1st Option. Then, also on platforms for interior design projects such as Archello, Divisare, Archilovers.
✓ I have also a long list of stylist websites, of trend scounting websites, of interior photographers websites, which are actually my best sources.
Imagine now all this collected in a very personal order, which means in absolute mess (I’m so bad on this!!!)

If you feel that usual sources are not enough, try with the World Design Rankings here.
Do you want to scout new designers from Japan? Just click on the name of the Country and you’ll see a long list of designers. Click again and it will open in the application form with all projects.
More than this, for each Country you will find a further classification called Design Business Insides: a statistics on success of Countries based on different design categories. To discover the best Country for each design category, just click on the category name from the list on the right.

Ciao ragazzi, come va in questo lunedì? Avete ripreso oggi o lavorato qualche giorno anche la scorsa settimana?
Io dopo tanti anni di trauma da ripresa il lunedì dopo l’Epifania, dopo due settimane o quasi di vacanze invernali, quest’anno ho preferito adottare una filosofia diversa. Infatti ho lavorato anche la scorsa settimana, anche se a velocità ridotta diciamo, pianificando un bel po’ di attività per questo mese, tra articoli, collaborazioni, trasferte (cominciando da Parigi a Maison&Objet, tra due settimane!), eccetera.
Mi sono fermata completamente un paio di giorni, per una bellissima gita nelle Alpi in treno, nel mio profilo instagram qui trovate già qualche immagine anche se ve ne parlerò meglio in settimana perché merita davvero!
Comunque, iniziamo con qualcosa di utile la settimana ok?

Una domanda per tutti i design bloggers:
di solito dove cercate le informazioni per i vostri blog?
Io trovo sempre più difficile diversificare le fonti e trovarne di davvero originali, rispetto a tre anni fa ovvero a quando questo blog ha iniziato a prendere velocità.
Il fatto è che il web è ormai pieno zeppo di qualsiasi cosa, e trovare delle fonti autorevoli e valide per trarne contenuti inediti è sempre più difficile. Lo pensate anche voi?
Io penso inoltre che siamo davvero in dovere verso chi legge nel dare contenuti di qualità e che siano verificati e attendibili: è un problema attualissimo, quello delle false notizie che girano in rete, da non sottovalutare. Per non parlare del copyright e del rispetto delle fonti e del lavoro altrui, tema altrettanto scottante per chi come me lavora in questo settore.
Voi da che fonti attingete?

Quali sono le mie fonti di design blogging?
Ho una lista davvero lunga di risorse che utilizzo per aggiornare continuamente ITALIANBARK blog.
✓ Magazines online e su carta di interior e design. Tra i miei preferiti: Frame Magazine, Milk Magazine, Elle Decor, Living (Italia), Frankie, Vtwonen, Rum Magazine.
✓ Blog personali di interior, design e viaggi di design: dalla Scandinavia, dall’Europa (vedi Francia, Portogallo, Polonia, Grecia tra i miei stati preferiti), ovviamente USA, molti dall’ Australia, e alcuni del Far East (Giappone e Singapore), qualcosa da Brasile ed Africa. Ovviamente poi dall’Italia. Consulto una lunga lista in Bloglovin‘, che tuttora è il mio feed reader preferito.
✓ Poi ci sono tutti i social networks: pagine Facebook (anche se non le utilizzo molto), Instagram per i contenuti visivi, Pinterest (lo utilizzo ancora molto, anche se non sopporto che non abbia un ordine cronologico), Tumblr per i contenuti secondo me più originali.
✓ Per lo scouting di nuovi progetti utilizzo portali di crowdfounding come Kickstarter, ci si possono trovare tante cose interessanti armandosi però di tempo e pazienza.
✓ Per lo scouting di home tour i miei preferiti sono i siti di belle agenzie immobiliari. Per citarne alcuni, Fantastik Frank, Entrance Makleri, Welcome Beyond, 1st Option. Poi ovviamente i portali che raccolgono progetti di architettura, come Archello, Divisare, Archilovers.
✓ A questo aggiungeteci una lunga lista di siti web di stylist, di trendsetters, di fotografi d’interni, che sono anch’essi tra le mie fonti di ricerca preferite.
Tutto ciò raccolto in un ordine del tutto personale, ovvero in un assoluto casino (sono pessima in questo!!!)

Una nuova risorsa per i design bloggers
World Design Rankings (WDR) è una classifica globale di design basata su tutti i Paesi del mondo.
Se anche voi come me pensate che le fonti da cui attingere non siano mai abbastanza, provate con il World Design Rankings.
Volete scoprire ad esempio nuovi designers emergenti dal Giappone? Cliccate sul nome del Paese e vi apparirà una lunga lista di designers. Click un’altra volta e si aprirà la scheda personale con tutti i progetti.
Non solo: per ogni Paese troverete un’ulteriore classifica, denominata Design Business Insides: una statistica che indica in quale campo del design ogni Paese ha più successo. Anche qui, basta cliccare sulla categoria prescelta e si aprirà una lista di progetti e designers da cui attingere.
