COLOR TRENDS 2019 | The colour that is everywhere now (will it last?)

What about if I tell you Cantaloupe?

Yep, raise your hand if you had at least three of them a week this summer, as I did. But did you know that it is also the name of the hottest colour in interiors right now?

Cantaloupe is a soft undertone of bright orange inspired, of course, to melon. For the first interior colour trend follow-up post, after the holiday break, I choose this hue because as you may also have realized, it’s really on fire right now in the interiors. Orange is really having a moment now and this cantaloupe no doubt -at least in my opinion- is much more beautiful and easier to be used than bold orange. That is my very last choice when choosing a color, I’m sure I already told you this.

[ italian ] Per il primo approfondimento sui trend di colore negli interni, dopo la pausa estiva, ho scelto un colore ancora estivo ma che vedremo certamente anche nei prossimi mesi. Una tonalità particolare di arancione, più soft e meno luminosa, ispirata al colore del melone di Cantalupo. Alzate la mano se anche voi come me ne avete mangiati almeno 3 ogni settimana durante quest’estate.

Il Cantaloupe è un sottotonalità più morbida rispetto all’arancio e, almeno secondo me, molto più gradevole e semplice da usare rispetto all’arancione. Che, sono sicura di avervelo già detto, resta la mia ultimissima opzione quando mi trovo a scegliere un colore.

Cantaloupe orange color trend

Inspired to melon, this juicy shade is at same time bright but milky and soft, yet quite easy to use. Cantaloupe is also close to the mix of the two main color trends now in interiors: the pastel color trend and the earthy tones, with rust and terracotta orange on top.

Talking about how to incorporate this color in the interiors, from the pics below you will notice that Cantaloupe orange is a really versatile hue. Even if it may look like a summery color, it actually work well also together with neutrals becoming a quite neutral color too. I also recently used this color in a ice-cream shop design I’m working on now, matching it with other milky hues. I can’t wait to see the final result!

[ italian ] Ispirato al melone, è tonalità luminosa ma allo stesso tempo tenue. Il suo successo in questo periodo è dovuto probabilmente al fatto che si tratta di una tonalità perfetta sia in accostamento ai colori pastello, sia ai toni della terra, come il ruggine e il terracotta.

L’arancio Cantalupo , anche se non sembra, è anche una tonalità molto versatile. Lontano dall’essere semplicemente un colore estivo, funziona bene anche in accostamento ai neutri diventando anch’esso un colore piuttosto neutro. Ho utilizzato anch’io da poco questa bellissima tonalità in un concept per una gelateria, abbinato invece ad altre tonalità pastello. Non vedo l’ora di vedere il risultato finale!
