Hello Guys! I’m now back to my home office after some days spent in Paris for the Paris Design Week + Maison et Objet.

It was my first time at the September edition of M&O and must tell you I enjoyed it a lot, both in the fair and outside in the city. Indeed, while M&O January edition goes together in the city center with Paris Deco Off which is all about fabrics and decor, the September edition goes together with Paris Design Week and – as the name says – it’s more on interiors and design. So it’s more my thing ^_^

I’ve also rediscovered my love for this city, that was somehow dozed off lately -I lived for a while in Paris a lot of years ago, Erasmus times yah. This time in Paris I approached the city slowly comparing to other times, without that obsession of see-everything-share-everything. Few plans, free time to enjoy the city center and what it offers: including small indipendent shops and including also the amazing exhibition in Le musée des Arts Décoratifs “Christian Dior, Couturier du Rêve” ♥

I’m putting together a couple of blogposts where I will share some products and some trends I noticed: this week on the blog will be all about Paris + French design.

But let’s start today with something very Italian that happened our first night in Paris this Monday right? (jump below)

Hello! Sono tornata oggi al mio piccolo home office dopo qualche giorno alla Paris Design Week + Maison et Objet.

Era la prima volta che visitavo l’edizione di settembre di M&O e devo dirvi che l’ho apprezzata molto, sia per quanto riguarda la fiera che gli eventi in città. Infatti, mentre all’edizione di gennaio di M&O si accompagna l’evento cittadino Paris Deco Off, che riguarda sostanzialmente il mondo dell’editoria tessile, quella di Settembre si svolge assieme alla Paris Design Week che – come dice il nome – riguarda di più l’interior e il design. Più nelle mie corde ^_^

Ho avuto del tempo anche per riscoprire un po’ la città: stavolta sono partita (assieme a Carlotta di Un progetto) con pochi piani, senza quell’ansia di vedere-condividere-il-più-possibile, ed è il modo migliore per apprezzare una città come Parigi.

Tra le varie, sono riuscita anche a scoprire qualche nuovo negozietto molto interessante, nonché a visitare la mostra del momento -“Christian Dior, Couturier du Rêve“- al Museo delle Arti Decorative (da non perdere!), nonché la nuova apertura di uno showroom 100% italiano ♥

Marazzi Paris Showroom Opening

Marazzi, the Italian leading brand in ceramic and porcelain for floor and wall tiles, opened its first showroom in Paris the 7th September with the “Bonjour Paris” event. After the opening in London, the Italian brand settled in another European capital, with a new showroom that is a new reference point for interiors and design professionals.

We were there during the opening and actually it was like enjoying an evening in a typical Parisian apartment in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés (to be precise, Boulevard Saint-Germain, 63). Très jolie!

L’ apertura del nuovo showroom Marazzi a Parigi

Marazzi, il brand italiano leader nel settore rivestimenti ceramici, ha aperto il suo primo showroom a Parigi il 7 Settembre con l’evento “Bonjour Paris“. Dopo l’apertura di Londra, Marazzi si stabilisce in un’altra capitale Italiana, con uno showroom pensato per diventare nuovo punto di riferimento per architetti e designers. 

Partecipare all’evento di apertura è stato un po’ come partecipare ad una festa privata in un tipico appartamento Parigino nel cuore di Saint-Germain-des-Prés (precisamente, Boulevard Saint-Germain, 63). Très jolie!

Marazzi Paris Showroom | the Concept

Indeed, the new Marazzi showroom in Paris was designed to enhance the charme of the historical interior at its best. The building is a typical Haussmannian palace of the nineteenth century and once it hosted a library.

As in the London showroom, the three levels accommodate three different functions: in the basement there is the material archive, on the ground floor the welcome area and on the first floor the workspaces for architects and designers.

Actually the first floor is the space I loved most, because it is a real Parisian apartment that keeps all the original charm.

The designers (Marcel Mauer’s studio by Italian architects Lorenzo Baldini and Antonio Pisano) indeed decided to keep the original layout, divided into small rooms, adding just a very light set-up that enhances the existing architectural elements, such as plasters, fireplaces and the herringbone wooden floor. On the walls, Marazzi’s moodboards will help designers to find new inspiration and new material matches. Large white tables in the middle of the room complete the layout, that will become a workspace for design professionals.

In the ground floor there is a huge reception and an accueil space, with new settings and small corners styled with Marazzi products and design furnishings. The levels are connected with a typical wooden stair painted in total black, creating a clear contrast with the light and airy interiors.

Il progetto del nuovo showroom Marazzi a Parigi infatti è stato sviluppato in modo da preservare nel miglior modo possibile il fascino originario degli interni. L’edificio è un tipico palazzo haussmanniano dell’Ottocento e un tempo ospitava una libreria. 

Come a Londra, anche qui i tre livelli sono stati suddivisi in modo da ospitare al piano interrato l’archivio materiali, al piano terra l’accoglienza e al primo piano gli spazi di lavoro per i professionisti.

Proprio il primo piano è lo spazio che più mi ha colpito, proprio perché mantiene intatto tutto il fascino di un appartamento parigino dell’epoca.

I progettisti (studio Marcel Mauer degli architetti italiani Lorenzo Baldini e Antonio Pisano) hanno infatti scelto di mantenere la partizione originaria a stanze degli spazi con un allestimento molto leggero che valorizza l’architettura preesistente, fatta di stucchi, tipici caminetti e pavimento in legno a spina di pesce. Appoggiate alle pareti, le moodboard dei prodotti Marazzi aiutano i progettisti a creare nuovi abbinamenti ed effetti. Anche qui come a Londra grandi tavoli bianchi a centro stanza completano gli spazi, in modo da diventare a tutti gli effetti spazi di lavoro per professionisti del settore.

Il piano terra è invece dedicato all’accoglienza, dove le nuove quinte scenografiche a linee spezzate identificano dei piccoli angoli allestiti con prodotti Marazzi e arredi di design. A collegare i livelli, una tipica scala in legno dipinto di nero contrasta con gli interni prevalentemente chiari e valorizza ulteriormente lo spazio.
